Salix alba L. (white willow) traditionally used as an anodyne,white willow extract contains a standardized content of salicin.The salicin,a precursor to salicylic acid, works as an antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and as an analgesic,has been used in the treatment of rheumatic fever.
