Mangosteen Extract(SFE)
The mangosteen peel contains a variety of bioactive compounds with potential applications as therapeutic ingredients or as functional food additives such as phenolic acids, tannins, xanthones , anthocyanins.Mangosteen extract contains rich xanthone, one kind of the polyphenols in the non-edible portion. In recent years, xanthones have been noted as a functionality such as anti-cancer effect and is expected as pharmaceuticals and health supplements.
Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction was employed to extract α-mangostin from mangosteen peel at three different levels of pressure (200–300 bar), temperature (40– 60 °C) and solvent to material ratio (100–300 kg/kg).
